Having Fun

She has been helping me wash clothes in the sink. When I was ringing them out to hang them up we were having fun!!

Back to the room

We went back to our room and it was time for a nap. What a big day already and it is only noon! She was exhausted. She would not lay down for a nap. She fell asleep sitting up and kept bobbing her head for the longest! It was so funny. Finally we got her to lay down.

Ice-Cream!

Ice-Cream as promised!! She LOVED it!!

TB skin test!

Bless her heart!! She has been through so much today! She did not cry long at all. After the lady was finished she quit crying. Now, time for ice-cream!

The Doctor

When the Doctor came in she was not happy. She had to take her shoes and socks off. He examined her feet and hands. He then made us lay her down and pull her pants off. She did not like that. He wanted to examine her from head to toe. I guess looking for abnormalities. Everything checked out ok but she did not like that!! She did not cry long. Our guide told her in Chinese that we would buy her some ice-cream when we finished and she perked up! She said she wanted vanilla ice-cream. The guide said you don't want chocolate? She said no vanilla!! Smart girl! We can't really communicate with her and it is amazing what all she knows.

Waiting on the Doctor

She did not know what was going on. Bless her heart!

Big Girl!!!

She did great!! She was such a big girl!! Ma-ma & Ba-ba (this is what the Chinese call momma and daddy) were so proud of her!

Physical Examination

We had to take her to get a physical examination. All of the adopted children had to go! You would not believe the volume of people there.

We are in Guangzhou!!

We are in Guangzhou at the White Swan Hotel!! We got to bed at 1am. Woke up at 6:30am for another busy day! Breakfast was a mad house!! So many people everywhere! So many other adoptive families there, it was unbelievable! Just as before at our other hotel, they had a breakfast buffet. She would NOT sit in her high-chair at all! She wanted to sit in my lap or walk around!

First plane ride!

She did great!! She was a little hyper and wanted to play the entire time. We thought she may be scared of flying but not at all!

Goodbye

Saying goodbye to our guide Zoey!

The ride to the airport

We had about an hour and a half's drive to the airport. She was playing with Wayne! She has done unbelievably good! Having to go here and there so much and she never cries, she just takes it all in and goes with the flow!

Back to the Notary office

After the registers office we went back to the notary office. We had already checked out of our hotel, had all of our luggage in the van. We were planning to head straight to the airport after the notary was finished. Kinsley and I waited in the van. It was lunch time and we were on a tight schedule so she was eating a boiled egg that I had brought with us from breakfast! She loves boiled eggs!!

Registers office

This is the same place where we first met her! The very same couch but a totally different reaction from her! We had to return here to pick up the corrected paperwork on her name and also pick up her passport!! So neat to see her little name and picture in a passport!!

Getting a head start on packing

This is the night before we will be leaving for Guangzhou to stay another 7 days. We will return home on Saturday the 23rd. Here we will get her Visa and do more paperwork to get ready to travel home. We decided to start getting some things packed up and she wanted to help!

Notary's office

As I am writing this it is 6am China time 10-15-10. Yesterday we went to the notary's office just another step in a mound of paperwork. They had her name transposed so we will have to go today to get that corrected. They had her first name as Hairell her middle name as Kinsley and her last name as Jade. When we went over the paperwork before, we just thought they had her name as Hairell, Kinsley Jade.

Thursday Morning

We have the morning to ourselves. We will have to meet our guide at 2pm in the Lobby to go to get some paperwork notarized. We ate breakfast then walked around the lobby of the hotel. We saw some fish in a little pond while walking around. It is rainy and a little cold outside so we did not brave the streets to go outside. We then went back to our room and she played soooo good! She laughed a lot and ran from place to place laughing as we were interacting with her. She likes to look out of the big picture window from our room. Today is the first time she really started interacting with Wayne!! She would grab his hand and take him to the snack drawer to get Gerber "puffs" to put into her little snack bowl then she would feed him one, me one, then herself one. I bet she took him to the snack drawer 5 or 6 times. She does have him wrapped around her finger!

Ride Back

On the ride home she was quiet and slept a lot. We got back to the room and ate dinner then got our bath and dressed for bed. We played with her and read books to her. I hope the long nap doesn't keep her from sleeping tonight.

Caregiver?!

A caregiver that is not pictured with the others, came up and really tried to get Kinsley to come to her. We then went upstairs to see the play area and living area. We got to the play area and that same caregiver kept trying to get her to come to her. She brought other children in there, then she went and got her favorite snack. Kinsley reluctantly started eating it then ran to her. She would not come to me or Wayne at all after that. She started crying and acting like she did when we first met her. That kind of made us upset with that caregiver's persistence in trying to get her away from us. We just had to take her away and leave because she was so upset. We did not get to see the place where she sleeps or eats etc. By the time we got outside she was settling down and I took more pic's of the outside of the orphanage. We then left for the 2 1/2 hour drive back to our hotel.

Care-takers

This is a pic of many of her care-takers. She would not go to any of them. She clung to me so hard. When we first arrived in the city of Huangshi, she started getting emotional, like she knew where she was. We had our guide to tell her that we were only visiting to see where she lived and to take pictures and that we would not leave her there, we would bring her back with us.

Orphanage

We arrived at the orphanage and they said we could not take any pictures inside where they live, only outside and in the lobby area. The pic of us on the steps is the same steps she was on in the pic that we first saw of her!!

Orphanage Visit

Today we went to visit the orphanage. Before we arrived they wanted to treat us to lunch at a restaurant near by. They had a lot of food and most of it was very spicy hot!

The white balls are fish flavored balls, next to that is spicy fried fish, then lotus soup (from the lotus plant), then a tofu dish, then beef with onions and green peppers, and last, lettuce that tasted grilled (very good).

Lotion!!

Kinsley has not had a lot to do with Wayne yet. She only wants me to do everything with her and to hold her. But, we have found one thing that she loves and that is to have lotion massaged into her legs, feet, arms, and hands. Her skin is very dry and has eczema especially on her ankles and her hands. She will let Wayne do this! He does it 3 or 4 times a day because her skin just soaks it up. She will hold her arms and legs out with anticipation!!

Thanks so much

Thanks so much for all of your prayers and kind words!! We have read them all, through teary eyes, and we are so appreciative and thankful for everyone of you!
We love you!!

Man that named her

This is the man from the orphanage that actually named Kinsley-- Huang Fu Zhi
Huang means the color Yellow, it is also the family name or sir name (Named from the orphanage Huangshi Welfare Institute). Fu means lucky and happiness. Zhi means coming. So the name means Luck and happiness is coming for this baby.

The Adoption is Final Today!!

Today we had to return to the place where we got Kinsley, to finalize the adoption! We actually did not know how she would react since the last time she was there, she was very upset. She did great!! We had to sign several documents and then put our fingerprint over our names! Today, she is officially OURS!!!!!!

Breakfast

She ate a good breakfast! She is a good eater!

Washing clothes

After we woke up and dressed, we decided to wash some of our clothes. Kinsley wanted to help. She slung the wet clothes over her head and slopped them on the counter. She had a big time! We had to change her clothes before breakfast because they were sopping wet, but she had fun!!

Getting ready for bed

We gave her her first bath. She would NOT sit down in the water! She stood up and shivered while I soaped her up and washed her hair. I think they shower them at the orphanage. We brushed her teeth and she did great with that. I had wondered how she would do with that. All ready for bed! We went to bed early at 8pm. We had all had a big day. She slept in between both of us. I put a diaper on her just in case but she did not wet it at all! We all woke up at 4am and she did great. She never cried one time.

After her nap!

At the hotel

She has done great so far!! She has used the potty 2 times!!!!!! I would ask her "neow neow ma" do you want to go to the toilet and she shook her head yes. She seems to be potty trained, but I'm sure there will be mistakes. Wayne and I played with her in the floor for a while then she took a great nap (I laid close to her until she fell asleep). When she woke up she did not cry. She wanted me to hold her and now she has fallen asleep in my arms. I just hope she sleeps tonight.

Headed back to the hotel

Headed back to the hotel. She is much more content now! She even said mama & baba (same as daddy) several times to us! They had been showing her our pics and telling her who we are.

The first time I held her

This is the first time that I held her. She did not want to go to either of us! We had a time with her at first. It got much better though!

The big day has arrived!!!!

This is the first time we saw her! She was with her nanny sitting on a couch when we walked into the room!
